DAVIS LAW OFFICE BUILDING, Harrisville, WV
Three generations of attorneys in the Davis family practiced law in this building.  They each were named Thomas Davis and together they compiled a remarkable record of legal service to Ritchie County, beginning in 1869 and ending in 1981.  Thomas Engle Davis ( 1846-1906)  was admitted to the practice of law in Ritchie County in 1869.  And served two terms as prosecuting attorney of Ritchie County and one term in the Legislature. From 1900 to 1906 he practiced law in a partnership with his son, also named Thomas.     Thomas J. Davis, Sr. ( 1879-1962) was the second generation of Davis men to practice law.  Like his father, he two served two terms as prosecuting attorney of Ritchie County.  And two terms as State Senator.     Thomas J. Davis, Jr. (1918-1981) was the third generation  of Davis men to practice law at Harrisville. He was admitted to the practice of law in Ritchie County in 1954, and practice with his father until 1962.  With the destruction of this landmark, a piece of history has vanished.  But let us remember that for an incredible period of 112 years, lawyers named Thomas Davis served the legal needs of Ritchie County, in this building.

Harrisville Gas Well, Harrisville, WV
The gas well was located near the junction of Rt. 16 and the Pullman Road.  This well furnished the gas for the street lights in Harrisville, until the coming of electricity.
